Read About:
  THE RITE OF ADMISSION
Our Candidates have already been reading and studying about the Secular Franciscan way of life. They are now ready to take the next step which is to request admission into the order.

The Rite of Admission to the Secular Franciscan Order is simple and plain. It does not take place during Mass. We celebrate this rite with a prayer service at which the candidates, with the entire community of our fraternity, pray that God will grant them the strength to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and Francis as they begin their journey toward profession.

Following Admission to the order, the candidates will continue to study about St. Francis, the Church, the Secular Franciscan Order and the commitment which they will make. According to our Statutes, this period of study will last at least one year (eighteen months). At the end of that time, the candidates may be permanently professed and become full members of the Order.

It is the responsibility of the fraternity to make this journey with the candidates. Our goal for them is that they will come to know the spirit of St. Francis and how it works in the lives of Secular Franciscans. They will find this spirit in our community and in our hearts. Through our prayers and example, they will learn what no book can teach. So, let us rejoice! Each of these candidates will be our legacy. Through them the fraternity will gain new life. Let us nourish this new life so that it may take root and grow strong.
